The warm weather makes me even more exciting to summer, the swimming season and new swimwear. Fittingly, I would like to introduce some brands that not only create something we can wear in the sea, but also for the sea.
What could be nicer than treating yourself to a cool refreshment in the water on hot summer days. Whether in the sea or in the lake, the natural waters feels amazing on the skin. In Switzerland, we have no sea, but many wonderful lakes. Nevertheless, I am a fan of the ocean and grateful that we can have something so beautiful on earth.
Unfortunately, in recent years, the ocean has been heavily polluted with all the plastic. Scientists predict that if this continues, in 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Many brands are already fighting against this pollution. They use, for example, the recycled material Econyl. This is nylon waste, such as unusable fishing nets and production waste, which are turned into new yarn.
Today I would like to introduce some brands they create sustainable swimwear:
Vitamin A
“Think Globally, Act Locally” is their motto. The California-based brand Vitamin A produces directly on the west coast. They use a large proportion of materials such as recycled nylon, organic cotton, linen or Tencel.
Mara Hoffman
The new yorker designer Mara Hoffman offers a wide range of different designs and colors. The swimwear is made from materials such as recycled nylon or recycled polyester.
All Sisters
All Sisters is a sustainable swimwear and sports brand from Barcelona, born out of the admiration and passion for the ocean and water sports. One of their classics is the one-piece swimsuit with a deep V-neck made of Econyl.
Salt Gipsy
Salt Gypsy is a surfer brand for women from Byron Bay, Australia. Around five years ago, they decided to create swimwear and surf fashion made from 100% recycled nylon.
Fisch
Fisch was founded in 2017 with the need to create swimwear from waste through upcycling. The entire made from Econyl collection is handmade.
