The skin is our biggest sense organ. That’s why wearing materials without toxins is essential to treat our skin sustainably. But that doesn’t mean we can’t wear the latest trends. This is proven by my bootcut jeans combined with a cardigan, which is this year’s trend.
The less a substance is treated and the shorter the transport route is, the more sustainable the materials are. The clothes should have natural coloring and cleaning processes. Recognizing these materials as a buyer is not always easy. However, the two indicators “Global Organic Textile Standards” (GOTS) or “IVN Best” can help, because they set a very high standard for natural materials.
The German label hessnatur is a pioneer of ecological clothing and strives to offer pure natural fibers. They have various organic cotton projects in countries such as Peru, Senegal, Turkey and Burkina Faso. They are members of the Fair Wear Foundation and since 2011 they have an aid project in Nepal that is committed to the integration of formerly leprosy people. It is clear for them, that the connection between ecology, economy and social works – without abandonment.
My outfit today is from hessnatur with a pair of bootcut jeans made from organic denim and a cardigan made from pure organic cord wool.
Do you like this look? What do you think about the return of bootcut jeans and cardigans?
