What I love about this wrap dress, I can wear it for every occasion. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a casual day, for work, for a wedding or for a chic dinner, it is always a good match. And the best of all, it is sustainably produced.
Whimsy + Row was founded in 2014 and is based in West Los Angeles. The founder Rachel began her studies at the fashion school in San Francisco, afterward, she worked in a textile start-up. After a few years, she was ready to run her own sustainable fashion label.
They work with substances that can be biodegraded more quickly than synthetic fabrics and need less water. In addition, they use dead stocks from other companies, which means, they use leftovers which would be thrown in the garbage anyway. The clothes are drawn and handcrafted in Los Angeles. The brand wants to avoid excessive waste, that’s why they try to use every fabric as good as possible. For example, they create bandanas or shirts with leftovers.
My Dress by Whimsy + Row called Lola and is made from 100% recycled rayon. Cellulose-based on wood or cotton is used to make rayon. Through a chemical process, the cellulose will transform into a thick liquid. By the way, the original type of rayon is viscose.
